I can be a pesky old primate when I want to be, and I’ve been pestering Mrs. Ape to do a guest post for weeks now. You see, my lovely array of ladies’ watches hardly gets a look in – after I’ve waxed lyrical about marvellous mechanicals, or advised you all on the perfect steampunk style, there just never seems to be the time.
So I hatched a cunning plan – cajole the old girl into collaborating with me, and present to you, our readers, Mrs. Ape’s Magical Guide to Lovely Ladies’ Watches.
Hello, readers, Mrs. Ape here. I’ve had a read of Mr. Ape’s (I refuse to call him ‘Weird’!) previous posts and I think I’ve got the gist. He does waffle on, doesn’t he? I’ll just get straight to the point.
Bright is Right!
As a gorilla, I use my hands and feet 50/50. You humans are handiwork only, so the perfect place to add a pop of colour to your outfit can only be the wrist! Embrace the bold and beautiful with show stopping primary shades – think ‘loud and proud’ and add a smattering of diamanté for even more magic. This Vintage Passion ladies’ watch will make you feel the love, with its purple faux-leather strap and sprinkle of glitter.
The glossies are telling all of us that for maximum impact from a watch, you must pair it with a chunky bangle or added dainty bracelets. Why bother, when you can get the whole look in one? With any of the beaded-bracelet style watches, you’ll liven up a slender wrist with multiple straps. The Aztec, Feather and Sparrow are all real leather, with separate intertwining bands, and all feature intricate details that are guaranteed to catch the eye.
Hot for autumn/winter ’16 are square and rectangular faces, as these give a watch a unique look – and on a petite strap, still look feminine and dainty. The Athena Black ladies’ watch channels this and the bracelet trend, with authentic roman numerals for an expensive, ethereal look. If it’s stand-out bling you’re after, do as I say and as I do, and opt for the Abbrecci Crystal Cross, a glitzy, glamourous addition to any fashionista’s fall wardrobe.
I hope you enjoyed my girlie guide, thanks for reading. I’m handing the typewriter back to my husband now!
I don’t know how you girls do it – keeping up with these trends. With your armoury of accessories, it must be a constant struggle to stay stylish – to have the right heels and hats, or bags and boots. Us gents have it easy – a snappy suit, a wonderful watch and we’re away – which is why I never nag Mrs. Ape when we’re getting ready for a night out. She might even be quicker now she’s written this style guide!
As an ape, I got labelled stylish and sophisticated as soon as I put on a cool watch and gave up walking on all fours. It’s amazing what a well-placed watch and good posture can do – and on top of it all my knuckles have never seen better days.
Until next time!
