Ah, the marriage of two persons, the union of two souls, the joyful coming together in holy matrimony… Whatever you want to call it, everyone loves a good wedding. That’s one trait you humans have that I really do admire, other than your enthusiasm for unusual watches of course.
No, you humans really do know how to celebrate your love - which is why I was overjoyed to hear the news that a number of my very own pocket watches had made an appearance at wedding! And what a fabulous event it was. Alan got in touch via Twitter – I always love it when happy customers tweet me pictures of their wonderful new Weird Ape watches, so if you’ve recently purchased one, send me a photo!
Mr. Alan Masson married his blushing bride, Cherry, back in August at the Meldrum House Country Hotel in Aberdeenshire. In a stunning ceremony, the two were wed at the beautiful Scottish estate with groom and groomsmen all sporting traditional Scottish attire – full kilt suit complete with sporran.
During his fitting, Alan was advised (very wisely, I might add) by the specialists at Andrew Brooks Tailoring that a pocket watch would complement the outfit perfectly – and that his waistcoat had an extra button hole to accommodate one. With the chain on his sporran a distinct gunmetal grey colour, he decided he would seek a distinct and unique watch to match. And this is when he happened upon Weird Ape.
He found that my collection of unusual watches was exactly what he was looking for; offering something a little bit different, and rivalling others in both detailed designs and affordability. Being a generous man, as well as one with impeccable taste, he also chose to purchase pocket watches as gifts for his groomsmen, including best man and brother, Murray.
Alan settled on the Steampunk Pocket Watch for himself, as he admired the design and fine form. The gunmetal grey colour was just what he was looking for and the intricate detail stood out nicely next to the more subtle Ancient Pocket Watches he had selected for his groomsmen. When he presented them with their pocket watches just before the ceremony, the gentlemen wasted no time in putting them on and winding them up. I managed to catch up with Alan myself, and here’s what he had to say:
“The Weird Ape watches are interesting to look at and really are a conversation starter. They are also very affordable, especially when I required four. I think they tie in well with the suits and finish them off perfectly. The intricate details are great and many of the guests at the wedding came in for a closer look. Both styles of watch come with clear, readable faces and I am very pleased with them – and the groomsmen were all impressed too.”
I for one am delighted that both groom and his groomsmen were so pleased with their Weird Ape pocket watches. It’s always a joy to hear my watches are a hit, and that they really are ideal for any occasion so I’d like to personally thank Alan for getting in touch. I would also like to wish Alan and Cherry huge congratulations on their marriage, may you both have many happy years together!
